David C. Shelledy, PhD, RRT, FAARC, Ellis Jones Endowed Chair and dean of the College of Health Sciences, has been elected to the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions (ASAHP) Board of Directors for a three-year term. Shelledy is one of the ASAHP's five commissioners who serve on the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
Shelledy received his bachelor of science degree in respiratory therapy from the University of Central Florida, his master of arts degree in the College of Education from the University of South Florida, and his PhD in educational leadership from Georgia State University. Prior to his appointment at Rush in 2007, he held faculty positions at St. Petersburg College, Georgia State University, Athens Technical College in Georgia, and University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
A respiratory therapist by professional training, Shelledy is a recent past president of the American Association for Respiratory Care and has served in leadership positions in numerous professional societies in his field. He has lectured and published extensively in this area.
